Beauty in Small Things: Plait Textiles

Sometimes it takes just a small change to brighten and grace your space, like new napkins or a table runner. Yet even these small things can be made with exquisite refinement and care. In an artisan spirit of “everyday luxury” that embraces both beauty and usefulness, textile artist Jennifer Pellman has created Plait textiles.

Cotton napkins are handwoven domestically, and Pellman leaves the natural selvedge, or border, of the pieces intact, a mark of handmade versus commercial textiles. These creations would make very sweet wedding or anniversary gifts. Try the sophisticated Chocolate Wasabi pattern or the classic red-and-white Cherry Clafoutis; Pellman offers custom colors as well.
