Climate Counts Finds Toy Companies Lacking

Climate Counts, an website that evaluate companies and gives them scores based on their impact (or non-impact) on global warming has found that toy companies have a long way to go towards green credibility.

In a new report released this month, Climate Counts found that companies within the toy and child equipment industry were lacking in their commitment to being environmental friendly.

Climate Counts used their standard scorecard based on 22 criteria to measure each company’s action in addressing environmental issues. And on a scale of 1 to 100, with 100 being greenest of the green, most of the toy and child equipment companies evaluated received a big fat zero.

Top performer was Hasbro with a score of 40, trailed by Mattel with a score of 18. Lego came in third with 13, then there was Newell Rubbermaid with 4, and Dorel Industries with 2. The remaining eight companies scored 0.

Find out why each company scored as they did and then raise your voice and let them know that it’s not good enough by sending the pre-written email addressed to each of the evaluated companies.
