Don't Just Eat Chocolate. Wear It!

-

The only good skincare products…are edible ones.

That’s the opinion of many reputable sources, including The Nature Conservancy‘s Victoria Everman. The logic is impeccable. Our skin is not only the largest organ in (or rather on) our body – it’s also a membrane that ingests chemicals through our pores and into our circulatory system. It’s not like painting a canvas.

Now, I’m a guy. So my experience with makeup is limited (apart from one student party that springs to mind). However, like all sensibly-groomed men of today, I use moisturizer, and my skin-cream of choice is, and always will be, cocoa butter. Putting aside all the good environmental and medicinal reasons to use this terrific product… cocoa butter goes into making chocolate. That’s all I need to say, really. It’s a pale golden colour, and it smells very lightly of white chocolate with perhaps a hint of coconut. And your skin glows.

My local Body Shop does a great range of cocoa butter products which I can recommend you check out. It’s also worth exploring all the other cosmetic butters out there, such as the Shea butter we recently talked about. But please don’t try spreading them on your toast – edible though they are, Nutella they are not.
