Saving the Oceans in Style

epoca-fun

One of my closest friends is a scientist at Woods Hole Oceanographic and is researching ocean acidification.

(Side note: That will be a separate story on how women scientists are judged by how tough they look on the job versus looking stylish in any way.)

Regardless, only right that she would send me a link to an article on the European Project on Ocean Acidification (EPOCA) which has expanded its activities to include the fashion industry.

According to the article, EPOCA, the eponymous first retail shop in Shanghai, will donate all profits generated from the first six months of operation in cash to the participants of the EPOCA annual meeting which will be held in Plymouth, UK, from June 30 -July 2, 2009.

At the meeting, the project Scientific Steering Committee, advised by the International Scientific Advisory Panel, will decide on future shop openings.

Exciting news for scientists and fashionistas.
