Log Bowls: Natural, Stylish and Strangely Familiar

-

I’ve been staring at these Log Bowls from Loyal Loot Collective – trying to work out where I’ve seen them before.

They’re handmade from reclaimed trees (storm-fallen or cut down for non-commercial purposes). Each piece is turned on a lathe while a hemispherical scoop is carved out of the center, which is then lined with a high-gloss paint and sealant. The result is sturdy, deliciously natural and a real eye-turner.

But where had I seen them before? And then I realised…I hadn’t. I was remembering prising conkers out of their shells – looking a little sadly at the soft, perfect scoop of creamy white on the inside of the shell which, according to the rules, I had to throw away.

I wonder if Loyal Loot have any horse-chestnut trees growing near their workshop?
