Manimal Moccasin Giveaway
The great American Southwest is mecca for many to get out of their skins and absorb big sky and red rock. But inspiring enough to start a shoe line?
Yes, my southwestern sister.
After Manimal founder/designer, Kristen Lombardi, took her first trip to the desert (she a native New Englander), she was completely inspired to create shoes capturing the essence of the space.
She says her interest in traditional costumes and animal forms also influences the design of each moccasin and accessory (she has great jewelry and bags too), with her design process “driven by a deep appreciation for the almost forgotten world of artisan crafts and craftsmanship.”
Let’s let it be known that these desert shoes are just as happy in the city (she is based out of Brooklyn, after all), and look great with just about anything.
All pieces are handmade by a team of no more than three craftspeople in Brooklyn, New York, utilizing recycled leather scraps whenever possible. Kristen is also growing the vegan side of her line which is almost as inspiring as all that open southwestern space.
Will they inspire you to smoke peyote and run wild through the sage brush? They just might, tumbleweed.
Leave a comment below to win a pair of these amazingly soft, vegan, Rib Cage Flats. (For complete giveaway info, go here. And for FTC compliance info, here.)

Coming from the soutwest, I am looking forward to wearing a pair of these mocs.
As a child I remember the comfort and feeling of native american-made mocs
February 27th, 2010 at 1:46 PM
these are awesome!
February 27th, 2010 at 2:08 PM
These are cute! I’ve been holding off on buying moccasins, because of the use of virgin leather. This is a great solution!
February 27th, 2010 at 2:29 PM
Not only do these look cute and comfy, but the fact that they try to use recycled leather makes me want them even more!
February 27th, 2010 at 2:54 PM
For some reason i went out and bought those plastic Crocs (ugh! too warm and not so pretty like those above).
Don’t want to throw them out, but if i could wear a pair of those Moccassins every once in a while, then i could finally get some kind of relief.

What a great design! I have such a hard time keeping my feet in shoes (they want to be free and touching the Earth) — a friend just commented today that I should try mocs. I love that these are hand-crafted of re-cycled materials! Very nice!
February 27th, 2010 at 9:05 PM

Boy these bring back memories!! My great grandfather is Mescalero Apache (full blood all the way baby!) & he always wore moccasins…..short slipper types like these were his favorite though in the winter he wore very tall ones lined with sheep wool. He was the absolute sweetest man in the world & I will miss him forever. I hope I win these so I can be like my Gramper !
February 28th, 2010 at 9:31 AM
I want these. If I win I’ll do a killer rain dance for all of you.

February 28th, 2010 at 11:18 AM
Wow. Just in time for summer. All of Manimal’s products are lovely-I’m going to cross my fingers and hope for a vest in the near future. I have had my eye on the moccasins and one of the purses for quite some time. How lovely that more and more designers are marrying ethical philosophies and fashion. Go manimal!
February 28th, 2010 at 12:43 PM
Wow! What a great idea! I haven’t had moccasins since I was a kid! Very cool.
February 28th, 2010 at 7:34 PM
Oooh I love these mocassins, they’re so beautifully crafted! They look like they’d be light on the feet as well as light on the eco-friendly conscience. (if that made any sense?) :]
February 28th, 2010 at 8:21 PM
i bet those are so comfortable for everyday use.

I’ve been wanting a pair of Manimals for ages now! but my Canadian mocs still have some life in them yet. I’m going to need a replacement soon, though. . .I love the Manimals’ chunky details, great contemporary update on a beloved classic design.
March 2nd, 2010 at 12:27 AM
Nice! I don’t have anything like this.
March 2nd, 2010 at 7:54 AM
Checked Manimal and my feet were talking to me. Please, Please, Please! These moccasins were made for me!!!!!
Not to mention the rest of her wares. Love the Southwest. Bet I could twist my husbands arm for a good ride to sagebrush and chili peppers hanging on doors. I understand the deal Miss Tumbleweed.
March 2nd, 2010 at 9:49 AM
These look deliciously comfortable and I love that you’re combining recyled materials with artisan crafting!
March 2nd, 2010 at 6:46 PM
These shoes look stunning! My nonna wears these all the time, I’d love to own a pair as well!
March 2nd, 2010 at 7:14 PM
These are the most beautiful moccasins I have ever seen. I have always liked the Minnetonka’s but they look outdated now. These are creative and unique the way a moccasin should be. Mocs are so great for connecting feet to the earth. I have been searching for the perfect ones and these are it! My feet would be a walking billboard for these perfect shoes! Thanks for the chance to win.
