Take Your Pick

Less is more. Form follows function. If you’re an architecture aficionado, these three-word manifestos should bring visions of van der Rohe, Sullivan and Le Corbusier to your mind. But if we’re referring to modern furniture with an eco-edge, then Dror Benshetrit and his Pick Chair are a more likely pair.

The Pick is made of flat wood veneer panels layered over a hinged polished aluminum structure. Watch it transform from a wall-hung wood screen to a sturdy seat, or from a foldable chair into a piece of wooden wall art. Its dual function lends the Pick Chair its eco status, saving in space, materials and manufacturing because one product is greener than two.

Designed in 2006 by Israeli-born Dror Benshetrit of Studio Dror, the Pick “epitomizes Benshetrit’s design vision: the emotion of art intertwined with the simple poetics of form following function.” Simple, useful and so much more stylish than the metal folding chairs of yester-year.

See the Pick Chair on the Studio Dror or BBB emmebonacina websites. Purchase the Pick Chair, Tree or Saw ($1,800 or $1,630 respectively) at the online Dror Shop.

Take your pick – is it a picture or chair…or both?
