The Only Diet That Works May Be the One You Think About

There’s always a new diet "expert" eager to tell you what you’re doing wrong. Whether it’s raw foodism, the macrobiotic diet, or the Sonoma diet, there is no shortage of opinion!
As far as I know, there’s only one failsafe way to discover what is best for you: Conscious Eating. No, it’s not a brand and there aren’t any products. There are no numbers or points. Conscious Eating just means that you sloooow down. You pay attention to what your body wants to eat, and how you feel afterwards.
You can start by simply noticing if you feel energized or tired after you eat, and begin to notice which foods affect you differently. Take notes and choose accordingly. If you’re craving something, ask yourself if you’re really hungry, or if you just want to stuff an unpleasant emotion (often sadness, restlessness, boredom or frustration). Observe your emotion and work through it.
You are your own best nutritionist and your body is always talking; all you have to do is listen!

Aha, Conscious Eating”. Excellent. I’ve been wanting to see if it had a name for a while now…..
I also think there’s nothing wrong with deliberately feeling a little hunger, applying a little denial every now and again. When your stomach is empty, your senses get sharpened and your mind is clearer – so you enjoy your next meal so much more.
(I’ve never tried it, but apparently fasting is a way of achieving amazing clarity of mind).
