Eco Cookies in the Ring

Move over, Barnum. You're cruel to elephants and your animal crackers are crumbling all around you as a new, greener act, comes to town.

In the third ring, feast your eyes on Eco-Planet Organic Cookies (by Heaven Scent Natural Foods), a lunch-box favorite among moms who are on the prowl for healthy snacks with a conscience.

My daughters cracked up when pulling these treats from the green-grass, blue-sky box. The shapes include a hybrid car, a windmill, a sun (for solar power), and a planet.  "I only got two hybrids," complained Lauren from the back of the car, allowing me to witness a pop culture moment. "I got four," said Sydney. "I'll trade you for two planets."

Heaven Scent Natural Foods aims for high quality, 100% organic food with a message (eco tips are printed all over  the box). Eco-Planet donates a portion of its proceeds to non-profit groups "committed to preserving and protecting our fragile ecosystem". The cookies are sold at Whole Foods and other fine natural foods grocers across the U.S. for $.99-$1.39 per 1.5 ounce box.
