As Elaine blogged recently, living walls are both eye-catching and environment-improving, easy on the eye and a purifying relief for the lungs.

Cult favorite fashion designer Ann Demeulemeester's new store in Seoul, South Korea, takes this idea and grows madly in all directions. Designed by Minsuk Cho and Kisu Park, it features exterior and interior wall surfaces covered in grass. I'd love to know how the air inside responds to changes in the weather. Not to mention the logistics of maintenance. (More details over at DK Design Studio Blog).

Of course, growing grass over architecture isn't a new idea: take the work of Heather Ackroyd and Dan Harvey, who have been turning buildings into lawns since 1990. It's a wonderful building material - except for places where it rains all the time.
