Gentle readers of this Echo Salon:

I am not impressed with the 2010 North American Hybrids. The Japanese and the Chinese are today creating Electric Vehicles covered in Solar Panels and created with Super Capacitors that can recharge their Car Batteries far more quickly than do our current North American so- called "Green" vehicles.

With regenerative braking, the Eastern pure Electric vehicles will run farther and faster and of course much cleaner than the not so "Green" vehicle Hybrids created in North America. Todays North American Hybrids were created as pretense to distract us away from the pure Electric EV 1 vehcles General Motors created and then destroyed ten years ago. Of course you remember the EV1, but today we could have better and lighter and yes, cheaper Batteries, and we could also have Cars created with thin metal Solar Panels and with regenerative braking. All this with a driving range of three hundred Kilometers before needing a charge directly from our Homes. Of course in order to offset Energy consumption, our Homes would also be covered with thin and cheap Solar Panels providing cheap Electricity. Never accept less when you can have more and much much better!

It's great to see that the car companies are finally making some vehicles that are more fuel-efficient than, say, a tank. (Hummer, tank, same thing, right?) At least there are some options available now in several price ranges. We're still waiting, though. Since we live down miles of gravel road that is often impassable in the winter without 4-wheel drive, we have often wished that Honda would make the CRV in a hybrid version. With a plug-in electric option. Not that we're demanding... Until then, we'll just do our best to hypermile with our manual transmission Subaru.

I own a Honda Fit and oh how I love that car. It has a real-time fuel mileage indicator that also shows you your average MPG, and for me, I really get more like 35 city/39 highway - impressive for a non-hybrid. And it really is mega roomy - when I first got it I felt like I was driving a mini van because the ceiling is high and there's so much leg room. But outside, it looks tiny!
