I use those CFL light bulbs but have been seeing that LED lights are much better to use. They last longer and use less energy, also they don’t have mercury in them (like some CFL’s do)

Only problem is that they’re harder to find. I know a few companies out there (SeesmartLED is one near me) are trying to make them more easily available. I read that I think Atlantic City replaced there sign with LED lights and it cut down their electrical use by some huge amount.
