Hi Nate,

Many of the designers I know of, certainly the ones above, are getting their fabrics in the U.S. and that might be organic cottons or rescued fabrics.
But I do understand the quandry they are in when it comes to getting their materials. It's difficult.

True, there are many other places these designers could be giving their manufacturing business to but many prefer to keep it U.S. made and honor the local seamstresses and manufacturers.
Nothing wrong with creating jobs in our country when so many of these designers are struggling to make it themselves.
U.S. made and manufactured is important to them.

Kudos on your t-shirts being made in Africa though!

It's so heartening to know these current designers have not only great eyes but a conscience, unlike many of the profit-driven houses of the past. Being able to manufacture in your own hood! Wow! Guess China isn't the only option anymore.

I like the wave of MADE IN USA. Doing quite a bit of knitting myself and excited to say "I MADE IT IN MAINE". But disappointed to see the label on the yarn saying MADE IN TURKEY. That made me feel like a blind sided turkey.

No doubt that producing in the US saves on the greenhouse emissions, but if your textile/fabric is grown halfway across the world, how much are you really saving by "manufacturing" in the US?

Also, isn't there an economic benefit for producing in developing countries like Uganda or Lesotho? LDC's need jobs too, y'know.
