San Fran seems like the obvious choice, but I doubt it could handle the influx of tourists. Chicago is probably the more practical pick.

Looking outside the US, however, I doubt it will be long before we see the Olympics held in a place like Dubai that’s got the capital to make themselves capable of throwing together a bid centered around fancy new green building in a heartbeat. Mark my words, there will be an Olympic games held in Dubai in the next 20-30 years.

Sydney promised the greenest ever games in 2000 and, while it went part way to achieving that goal, it was by no means perfect.

@Daniel It would be fun to have the games in San Francisco (or in the Bay Area) but since the state of California is bankrupt, it might need to wait.

I would like to see San Francisco host the Olympics, as I don’t think they ever have done so. It would be a good green choice. I know they did the Senior Olympics here, but why not normal Olympics?

Great scooping, Liz. Love this angle! We went green for the Maccabbi games in SF this summer and it was wonderful. I’m with the first lady. Let’s get it in Chicago.
