Most days I just wash my feet before getting in bed. I only shower if I've been out working in the garden and got really dirty/sweaty.

As for water usage, I found a wonderful showerhead that has a "hold" button that maintains your temperature for several minutes while stopping waterflow. I can lather up, have pits and legs, then rinse. Lather up my head, rinse again. Total water usage is about 3 minutes.

I have no idea what the gallons used are, but I know there's no reason for the water to be pouring down the drain while I'm scrubbing my head or shaving my legs!

My DAUGHTER has hair about 4 feet long, and only washes it once a week. She uses the same technique for showering in that she wets her hair then shuts off the water while she massages in the shampoo.

My HUSBAND, on the other hand, is a water hog. LONG shower every freaking morning. sigh

This makes sense. We try to conserve in other ways, why not in this way as well? Most people don't need to have a full wash daily because they're not doing the intensive manual work to necessitate it.
