I like stainless steel water bottles the best. Klean Kanteen makes great bottles. Also the bottles come with 2 lids which is great for me cause I loose everything. Sigg has great designs too but I think most of them are made from aluminum.

but i also wonder–what’s a safe, reusable bottle to use? i get concerned about nalgene because of the reason 5 you listed (chemicals could be leached from the plastic). i wonder about thermoses as well, which have both metal and plastic parts.
