Cindy Crawford Is Thirsty for Change. Are You?

-

Celebrities using their fame and marketing clout to speak up for good causes – you might disagree, but I’m all for it. In this day and age, if you’ve got any kind of power or influence, it’s almost imperative that you use that position to achieve some kind of global good.

-

Cindy Crawford is next on the list, teaming up with Pur Water Filtration to promote the use of filtered tap water in order to reduce the billions of plastic bottles used every year. Through the campaign, “Thirsty for Change,” proceeds of a chic reusable water bottle will go to help families in developing countries access clean drinking water.

The fact is that many of the largest bottled water corporations make shady deals to take water from public aquifers that rightfully belong to the people, both in our own country and around the world, while their pristine water gets sold to those who can afford to pay for it. That status bottle (or even that pack from Costco) is leaving those who truly need water most in the dust – to devastating consequence.

Filter your tap water, reuse that bottle, and let’s all get on with the global good. (Except, perhaps, for Madonna, who spends over $100,000 a year on bottled water.)
