Radical Prefab Eco Houses: Which Would You Choose?

-

In the future, will all houses come ready to assemble?

Prefabricated housing couldn’t be more eco-fashionable, and it’s not hard to see why. Whether temporary or permanent, a flat-pack house can go pretty much anywhere (as long as you have water & electricity supplies – and permission!). And it’s increasingly affordable: the cheapest option on the market is a mere $12,000. Music to the ears of the adventurous first-time buyer.

But we’re talking about an often radically different style of home. So we ask – would you feel comfortable in any of these five houses?

-Coming in a variety of sizes – and somehow packing in two floors  – is the Eco Pod (above), from Eco Hab UK.

-More your thing? The Method Cabin (above) – spotted via Haute*Nature. Much more conventional-looking, this home is factory-built before taking about 3 months to be assembled onsite.

-No glue?  No nails? It’s Lego for adults – the Loq-Kit home (above), made from modules that snap together any which way you like.

Or how about any of the 7 eco-houses we recently featured?
