According to American Bamboo Society, three criteria are commonly used to determine whether a plant is invasive or has the potential to be invasive: ecological impacts, potential for expanded distribution, and management difficulty. Bamboo cannot clearly be shown to cause ecological harm in natural areas and as such it is not an invasive plant. 

Secondly, bamboo does not have the potential to expand on its own into natural communities. Lastly, bamboo plantation growth can be managed with proper techniques and harvesting processes. That being said, there is always exception to the rule and that is especially true out in the forest where nature rules…]]></description>
