Hi everyone. I read a comment here about parabens. I love this company, and hearing the controversy about parabens saddened me. So I did some research. It turns out that the studies on parabens casuing cancer were inconclusive. While they did test cancerous tissue for parabens, they failed to test healthy tissue for parabens. This means that parabens could also be found in healthy tissue without problems. As for hormone interefrence: if you take an oral contraceptive pill, you are putting yourself at a much higher risk of hormone interference than parabens pose to you. Lush uses small amounts to prevent bacterial and fungal growth in their products.

I don't actually see why you are so baffled by the same company being opposed to shark finning as the Israeli apartheid in Palestine as Canadian oil development... all of these things put the temporary desires of the powerful over the basic needs of the powerless. It is as simple as that.

Reading this article has actually given me a much greater respect for LUSH and its politics... maybe I will start shopping there after all. If only they could tone down the scents...

My friend swears by this company and if I wasn't broke I would buy their products too. It's interesting to hear the back story of companies and what causes they support. To each their own.

And I had heard about the animal cruelty re enactment but didn't realize it was a Lush doing? Crazy
