I would also suggest switch to cloth pads or the Diva Cup or something similar.

Tampons are notorious for creating all sorts of issues... they and pads contain dioxin. Absolutely unhealthful and are introducing unnecessary chemicals to the most sensitive and precous parts....

Cloth or the cup is helpful to the environment. Cup is probably the best because you do not have to launder as you do cloth.

Etsy has a lot of sellers who make cloth pads for purchase.

I'll say three words: pee after sex. It's also a good idea to load up on cranberry antioxidant supplements - they have the same medicinal benefit as the juice (because it's the particular antioxidant in cranberry that loosens the bacteria), and are great if you're sick of chugging. Definitely avoid the antibiotics if you can - a friend of mine took them and came down with a terrible yeast infection which ended up being far, far worse than the original bladder infection!
