Each speaker has an interesting perspective. Though this appears to be a moral debate, several facts cannot be avoided by either party:

a) currently the single greatest source of greenhouse gases is animal agriculture;
b) the consumption of meat and of animal byproducts has been linked directly to coronary artery disease and a variety of cancers, this country's number one and two killers;
c) healthcare costs associated with treating issues linked to the consumption of meat and of animal byproducts has risen exponentially and should not realistically be expected to fall. These costs are increasingly being borne by all Americans as more citizens rely on Medicare, Medicaid, and the new national health plan.

Ignoring the ethical issues and focusing only on these financial, human health, and environmental factors, it is clearly prudent to discontinue consumption of meat and animal byproducts.
