I don’t think vegetarianism is the only answer but it’s certainly a valid alternative.

Great reporting, Caitlin. I love Bo’s term “hogwash” because it is so choice when discussing the foul subject of animal cruelty and unsanitary conditions for getting good to our tables. Let’s stop eating hogs, and cows, and reject the unsanitary and inhumane conditions. There once was a time when we simply could not survive without meat. That time is loooooooong gone.

@Bo I agree with you that any individual person or individual nation cannot save this problem alone. It will take collective action.

I’m unclear what precisely you are rejecting as “malarkey” but the science behind climate change is increasingly clear.

I lived in Europe for 5 years as well and found it pretty clean myself. Interestingly though, the black soot that you describe are heavy particles and not as much of a problem for climate change as fine particles. Pollution does not always have to be highly visible for it to be real and a problem.

This is a bunch of hog wash! I lived in Europe for 7 years, you think we polute? Try going to places like Madrid, Rome, Athens, Ankara, etc. The polution is increadible. One night in Ankara I was blowing black soot from my nose. We ALONE cannot do everything. I reject this load of malarky!
