They don’t care if a startup has any revenue potential or if there is any need for it in the market. They are looking for startups to flip. The process is based on the Greater Fool Theory that states it is possible to make money by buying securities,
whether overvalued or not, and later selling them at a profit because
there will always be someone (a bigger or greater fool) who is willing
to pay the higher price.

I know my eco fashion business is self-funded, starting from pretty much nothing, but I didn’t know how much of that was just me lacking in pro business admin knowhow and if it would actually have been easy to secure grants/investors if I’d known earlier.

I’m probably with Mindy though, on it generally feeling better to make it on your own. It’s quite an achievement for those of us without added funding to pull off, and it’s comforting to know others feel the same.
