The steam room models with acrylic back walls supplied in multiple sectional pieces might be available at a little-less price, but if you buy them, you will only end up compromising with the stability, structure, and quality of the product for the sake of saving a few pounds. Because of their unstable structure, they may flex and creak, which can eventually turn out to be a very costly affair for you.

The home we are building is solar with a back-up generator. We want to include a steamer, but our concern is the number of KWs the steam unit draws. The water is already preheated before coming into the shower, but won’t the steamer still draw the same amount of KW’s to produce steam?

That’s great Shep! I’ve been looking for a way to conserve energy. I did see somewhere that you can hook up solar power to heat your water. My steam shower is just like yours Shep, but it’s the model 96 Rainforest. It integrates the heater for the whirlpool tub with the steam generator so that it is more efficient that way as well.

Steam Showers can be hooked to a solar water heater, in which case they are very very green indeed!
