Your ads of old growth trees is a great message about electronic data medical records and should have been left at that. The saving of trees for paper is like not eating popcorn to save corn. Paper pulp trees are not only a renewable resource with increasing controlled forests through out the world, but also good for the enviornment. New trees, planted at the current rate of 15 for each tree harvested (None from old growth forests) add oxygen, clear gases and promote mutliple industries. Your ads indicate saving trees is a noble goal of Kaiser, when if fact it should be recycling, thereby saving landfill. You've missed the point and do damage by presenting false information to the TV watching public. How mis-informed your ad agencies and marketing people are based on facts, not this notion that saving trees is a good thing. Pulp trees, which make up more than 95% of virgin pulp used for paper are a renewable resource. With recycle content on the raise, jump on the bandwagon and promote your electronic solutions and footnote recycling, but please leave responsible products out of the mix. Saving trees is not your point. Saving lives and delivering better health care is.

Interesting what Kaiser is doing and I applaud the green efforts. However, I can't help but think of the friend and neighbor up the street who got breast cancer some years back and had to be treated at Kaiser. The medical care was quite good, and thankfully she beat the cancer, but she was shocked during her stay at the terrible food these places are serving - not organic, highly processed, often totally unhealthy sugar-and-pesticide laden junk, cooked and heated in plastic, no less! I wonder if they're changing their tune now...or if this particular green effort is an isolated one. We should check it out, Lu!

Wow, thanks Patty. Good to hear from the trenches. As I said, I don't belong to Kaiser but my good friend has been very happy with all services, including programs for children. Guess there can be a range.

If Kaiser could arrange so that they never had to see their patients they would be happy as clams! It is nice that they are finally developing their computer tools, but it would be even better if they hired doctors that did residencies at somewhere other than Kaiser! My experience at Kaiser is that over the years the quality of their doctors has declined as they impliment their own training program. The doctors who had experience in other facilities gave much better care because they would know when to recommend specialist care. All these Kaiser doctors know is to save money by doing as little as possible for the patients.
