Both of these shows helped bring a much needed awareness to the fashion industry. However I very much agree with your point that it would be nice to see Montreal take on not only an ethical point of view but an organic eco approach.

I work for Itsus International and we have recently launched the "System Green" eco collection that is made of 100% organic cotton. We are also certified by Control Union under the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The GOTS certificate ensures that not only the fabric is approved organic but that every single step of the production cycle conforms to a low impact and organic model. Also, ethical working conditions is high up on the list of priorities for the GOTS certificate.

With the amount of green washing going on in the industry from those saying they have an organic eco friendly rayon bamboo product, certification is the only way to guarantee you are buying what the product claims to be.

We are all part of a global community as technology has significantly reduced the time-space relationship. Yes it is nice to help support local industry, but at the same token we must also support those across the globe who are interested and progressing in the eco-organic-ethical movement.

Itsus Eco would be very interested to learn more about the Montreal Fashion week if it continues to progress, we are based here after-all.
