It’s certainly possible for a woman to be both smart and beautiful. However, you’re failing to take into account the third part of the triangle of women…craziness. There are three ways in which I judge a woman, Looks, Smarts, Saneness. Women can only be two at a time. Beautiful, sane, and dumb. Smart, sane, and ugly. Or smart, beautiful, and insane. I wish it weren’t true, but just try and think for a moment of anyone who is all three.

There’s this saying, a woman can be 3 things: hot, smart, and sane. A guy looking for a woman can get only get a woman with 2 of the 3 things. There is no woman that is hot, smart, and sane. Now just because a man can theoretically get 2/3 doesnt mean he will. There are plenty of men who get a woman that is only smart or only attractive or dumb as dirt and ugly (hopefully she’s not crazy!), but sadly there plenty of guys that end up with women that are neither. So guys, pick your 2/3 and go for it!

I was recently appalled when I heard several political pundits discussing whether or not Nancy Pelosi might have distanced herself from voters by dressing so well. Would the same thing ever be said of a male politician? Of course not. Yet these pundits acted as though she should have worn velour sweatpants to the House floor every day in order to be more “regular.” Unfortunately, it seems that it is still the case that women are judged first for their appearance, and everything else comes later, if at all. Contributing to the problem is the fact often smart girls have been taught, by example or by experience, that hiding their intelligence is safer. While I think women like Hillary Clinton help prove that we have made progress since I was a little girl, there is still plenty of room to grow. We need to encourage women like Paulina to stand up and show that women need not be judged on looks alone.
