Just build battery exchange into existing service stations and easy plug in batteries into the cars and there would not be a range problem with little cost. The driver just pulls into a station slides out run down battery and slides in charged one, closes access door and drives away. Over time this process could be automated like a vending machine. Certainly would not cost $500,000,000 to do.
