Going green can save you money and it’s good for the environment and often better for your health, (consider walking, eating locally produced foods..ect). There isn’t much that people can say against being environmentally conscious.

I agree with most of these but I have to disagree with #3 – $200-$400 per 1000 washes is insanely expensive. You actually should not use as much soap as soap makers tell you to put in your laundry; if you use a more reasonable amount (that helps your clothes last longer), those big bottles that cost about $20 each last me months and months, which has got to add up to probably a few hundred washes by the end, at least (plus I have a small washer, but it would be comparable to if I had a big front-loader, I think). And yes, I use Seventh Generation so it’s more eco-friendly than “traditional” brands.

Another great way to save money & be green is buying remanufactured ink and toner for your printers. This saves you $5 to $100 each time you buy a cartridge. It also keeps empty ink and toner out of landfills & lessens the demand for factories to turn out more cartridges using more hard to recycle plastic & energy.

How about building ECO friendly home? It is a very long term and sustainable energy saving. Eco homes are not using air conditioning, they are well isolated.

Number 2 is one advice I really like. I run a blog on solar cookers and I am a fan of these little cooking devices. It is very interesting how much firewood they save, how much energy they save. If you have the possibility, if you live in an area where sun is strong, it is kind of a duty to try and replace your cooking habits and buy or build one of these sun cooking devices. It may look like a small step but it would be huge if more of us would do it.
