From her Northern Indiana studio, Christine Mighion balances nature and design through a unique type of jewelry speak, a language she’s well versed in since starting her line in 2004.

Using gold, silver, semi-precious and precious stones to create her artistic vision, Mighion sculpts these recycled metals and gems into stunning rings, necklaces and earrings that stand out as pieces you’ll not only want, but want to keep forever.

Mighion’s vision for her most recent Pacific Collection was to “create sexy versatile pieces that would feel perfect for those balmy summer nights – pieces that a woman would instinctively pack if heading to a sunny and exotic vacation spot.”

The entire collection is made from recycled 14k gold or sterling silver, and ethically mined stones (whenever possible).

      googletag.display("div-gpt-ad-1430927735854-0");
      googletag.pubads().refresh([adslot4]);
    });

“I have always been drawn to the unexpected beauty found only in nature,” says Mighion. “It may seem silly, but I still get excited when I look at something such as a flower. Each bloom, with every little petal, is unique and utterly beautiful!”

Her work is beautiful, and of course we couldn’t introduce you to someone who’s just a great designer – Mighion donates 10% from the sales of the Clean Water styles to CharityWater.org, a non-profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations. (See her site for other causes.) She also only uses Kimberley certified conflict-free diamonds. Mighion works exclusively with suppliers who are based within the United States.

Are you sold on her yet? She had me at the earrings! Leave a comment below declaring your love for the pebble earrings from her new Pacific Collection, a summer collection inspired by the sea, and be automatically entered to win a pair. (Legalese: contest rules and FTC compliance.)

The collection is priced between $78 and $1,050, and is now available at christinemighion.

You know all those one-off earrings that used to be a pair, but you lost their counterpart ages ago and just couldn’t bring yourself to toss them out? Well now is your chance to bring them back out in style because the mis-match earring trend is revived! The key to pulling off this trend is to make sure the earrings have some crossover. For instance, they may have the same stone – just placed differently, or they may be inverse copies of one another. They should look like they go together and yet are noticeably different.

One of the best places to drum up some inspiration and scoop up a pair of these asymmetrical earrings is on Etsy, where independent designers handcraft jewelry, often using re-purposed bits from previous pieces. If you are more of a studs girl, have a look at Macha Jewelry for a new ‘diamond’ stud made of contrasting recycled gold and silver. Swap out one diamond for an eco-friendly heart from Christine Mighion and you’ve created your own mis-match pair. Finally, a trend that makes use of your not-so-forgotten castaways and a unique sense of styling!
