Debbie Smyth is a British textile designer who transforms two dimensional sketches into 3-D works, utilizing thread as an original method for drawing. The material guides her, as Smyth works beyond what we may perceive the medium can achieve.

By meticulously placing pins, and “drawing” with thread, she creates both large scale installations and small scale works of diverse style and impact. Take a look at her process in this video from a recent exhibit called “Drawing with Thread.”
