I’ll be honest. The last thing I think of when I have to go to the dentist is how green they are. I’m more concerned about whether I need fillings and if so, how much it will hurt, both physically and to the cheque book.

Still, it’s nice to know that if you want an eco-friendly dentist, it’s now easier to find one thanks to the newly created Eco Dentistry Association (EDA). An international association of dental professionals, the EDA aims to provide responsible dental care the green way.

The Eco-Dentistry Association’s goal is to not only support dental professionals as they make the transition to green practices but also to connect dental patients to eco-friendly dental professionals.

A quick look at the associations website shows that they are working hard to reach these goals. Dental professionals are offered comprehensive information on how to green the office and an opportunity to join the Green My Office program to get EDA certification.

Meanwhile, dental patients can use the EDA locator to find eco-friendly practitioners as well as utilize the EDA’s form letter to encourage their own dentist to become greener. For example, if you’re in San Diego, you can find a dentist in Del Mar and the greater San Diego area using the latest green equipment.
