This year’s New York fall color palette from Pantone is full of warm hues juxtaposed by a dotting of “standout shades” that we think you’ll adore.

When the seasons change, the best place to turn for color inspiration is to the hue-picking trendsetters at Pantone. We are so in love with the lively autumnal selections from the New York palette this year that we’ve dedicated an entire post to showing a few of our favorites. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, describes the fall color palette as being “bookended by a dynamic Grenadine red and a tawny Autumn Maple,” with the overall feel leaning more towards warmth. Eiseman also says, “While comforting, enveloping colors and ease are crucial to the seasonal feeling; standout shades include a pale pink Ballet Slipper, a refreshing Golden Lime, and a bright Marina blue. These hues add a striking touch when paired with the classic autumnal shades of Navy Peony, Neutral Gray, Butterum and Tawny Port.”

1. Shaded Spruce Shirt

Bold, yet seasonally classic, this deep, rich color is one Pantone describes as a “green you might see in the forest – sheltering and protective as evergreen trees.” With just the slightest touch of blue, this color descends from the standard fall greens and is transformed into a delicious jewel tone you’ll look forward to wearing all season. The pajama style top we’ve chosen is right on trend and would look great with black, distressed skinny jeans and gold accessories. Priced at $88.

2. Autumn Maple Dress

If you’re looking for a timeless fall color, then this hue should be at the top of your list. “A quintessential autumn color, Autumn Maple is tawny and russet,” says Pantone. 3. Tawny Port Pants

When it comes to rich burgundy hues, Tawny Port is touted for “taking the red family to new depths,” and being “elegant, sophisticated, and tasteful.” There aren’t many better ways to wear this color than as a pair of pants. Great with a variety of fall shoes, like booties, over-the-knee boots, and loafers, and with a variety of fall tops, like flannels, sweaters, and vests, a great pair of statement pants are a must. 4. Navy Peony Blouse

Pantone says Navy Peony “is a dependable and an anchoring shade. Solid and stable, the hue takes some of the load off of black as a go-to neutral.” We adore the idea of a navy, rather than black, neutral for fall this year. And the beautiful blouse from Reformation pictured above is just the piece for pairing with other hues from the fall color palette, like Neutral Gray or Golden Lime. 5. Fiery Grenadine Dress

A simple shift dress can take you far in early fall. The secret about the toxicity of wall paint is out, but select interior coating specialists have risen to the challenge by offering healthier paint for the home. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, volatile organic compounds, commonly found in paint, “irritate the eyes, nose, and throat, and can cause headaches, nausea, and damage to the liver, kidneys, and central nervous system.” The majority of these chemicals are released when the paint is wet and drying, but can continue to off-gas long after the pigments are dry.

Now that autumn is upon us, let’s check out Pantone’s latest color palette for fall 2015 and how they translate into hues for the home from a few of the best eco-friendly paint brands on the market. Marsala, the familiar Italian red wine sauce, is Pantone’s color of the year. In addition to this burgundy shade, are several other warm and playful colors such as Dried Herb, Biscay Bay, and Cashmere Rose. With a nod to the hippie days of yore, these colors are right in line with this year’s bohemian-chic trend.

Quiet Home Paints

According to the manufacturer’s website, Quiet Home Paints are completely solvent and toxin free, as this line of paint was originally designed with children in mind. The only ingredients found in the paints are water, natural and non-toxic manufactured binders, non-toxic pigments, natural mineral fillers such as limestone and clays, non-toxic thickeners such as wood cellulose, food grade non-toxic white pigment, levelers, and waxes.

Quiet Home Paints are offered by the sample, quart, or gallon and come in a shell, satin, velvet, or chalkboard finish. One gallon will run you anywhere from $72 up to $103 and will cover approximately 560 sq. ft. per coat.

Although Quiet Home Paints are natural and non-toxic, they still come in all of the latest colors. Use these muted primary tones in all the grown-up areas of your home. Accent walls with a mostly neutral backdrop is a safe bet, but even if you opt for something bolder by appointing a different room with one of each color, their shared intensity and tone almost guarantees that they will look great together from any vantage.

According to the Benjamin Moore website, Natura is water-based for easy cleanup, virtually odorless, quick drying, certified allergy and asthma friendly, self-priming on most surfaces, and carries Benjamin Moore’s Green Promise designation.

Natura is offered by the sample, quart, or gallon and comes in a flat, eggshell, or semi-gloss finish. One gallon will cost about $50 and will cover approximately 375-425 sq. ft. per coat.

As if it isn’t hard enough to choose a wall color, Benjamin Moore swoops in to offer customers thousands of different options. The advantage is that this overabundance of swatches makes it super easy to find a comparable match for each of the colors from Pantone’s palette.

From nursery to college dorm, these versatile colors have the ability to grow with your child through the years, but are sophisticated enough for adults, too. Gray is thought to promote creativity, so get those juices flowing by using this palette in your home office – add a pop of pink with a painted desk and a a splash of navy with a couple of painted cane back barrel chairs for an ultra-chic look.

YOLO Colorhouse Paint

Founded by artists in 2005, this paint brand was designed to be safer for its users and the environment. By offering low odor paints with superior coverage, zero volatile organic compounds, no reproductive toxins, no chemical solvents, and no toxic fumes, they are, like the website suggests, committed to creating healthier paint and better color with artist-crafted palettes.

If you’re looking for a thoughtful, hand-picked color selection with a healthy twist, then you’ll definitely want to check out YOLO Colorhouse’s website. Staying in line with the sophisticated palette are the three selections below. At first glance they may seem bold, but used strategically, this earthy group is sure to bring warmth to any space.

Keep in mind that you’re never restricted to just paint – use Glass .04 on the walls of your living room and then incorporate Dream .06 and Clay .07 through reupholstered vintage treasures, rugs, and other accessories. Fall is creeping up on us, you guys! And that means you’ll soon begin to wear different colors… fall colors. And while the cooler months used to mean “it’s time to start dressing drab,” that’s not so this year. Fall 2015 is filled with all sorts of beautiful hues to make you feel cozy and stylish.

According to Pantone, the color trend movers and shakers, 2015’s autumns colors are a blend of cool, muted greens and blues, and a few warm and flirty hues.

Here are some of the colors we’re particularly smitten with:

Dried Herb

Bubbly and Bean recently posted a great article on everything “dried herb,” Pantone’s muted green hue. This is a great summer-to-fall transition color because it’s earthy enough to elicit thoughts of falling leaves, and light enough to wear before the new season begins. For example, the above bag from Free People would look awesome with most any late summer outfit.

Oak Buff

This pullover brightly exhibits that fall colors don’t always have to be dull. Pantone’s Oak Buff is soft and rich. The above pullover from Free People shows how this golden yellow hue can add warmth to any autumn outfit.

Cashmere Rose

This color kind of surprised me because when you think about fall colors, you typically don’t think pink. But Pantone’s Cashmere Rose really works well when paired with one of the other, typical colors listed in its autumn colors spread. The above jacket is a perfect example of how you can wear this color throughout fall.

Marsala

This rich, red/brown hue has been everywhere this year, so, naturally it will be everywhere this fall. This dress shows just how solid and eye-catching this hue can be on its own.

Biscay Bay

This green/blue hue pairs well with any of the above colors, or looks stunning on its own. While this color is cool, it looks incredibly elegant and stunning against changing leaves.
