Lucky magazine’s Creative Director Andrea Linett

Ever flip through Lucky magazine to the end and see the Fashion Babble page with the caricature of Andrea Linett? Here’s an actual photo of her.

Her vibe has always screamed sexy to me, as if she were the poster girl for how to be really organic and feminine, yet tough. She’s the type to pair lace with motorcycle jackets, felt hats with trenches and plaid lumberjack pants with aviators and heels.

      googletag.pubads().refresh([adslot4]);
    });

While this Linettness might be hard for some to pull off, you can take pieces of her style and incorporate it into your own. One of the easiest ways is to marry your personal style loves and see what happens.

Do you live in the city but yearn for the country?

Are you constantly reading Dorothy Parker poems while living with your redneck boyfriend?

Why not incorporate your favorite camping flannel with a pencil skirt and slouchy booties, your poet’s blouse with a belt, or sleek skinny jeans and tough boots?

The more you do it, the better you get.

Two pieces I can’t live without that always pull my Linett-inspired outfits together is a big citrine cocktail ring I got years ago and my Frye engineer boots.

A close runner-up is a turquoise Navajo bracelet my mom picked up for me in New Mexico years ago and a vintage obi belt from Barney’s my mother-in-law gave me from the 60s.

Like Linett’s style, each piece evokes a certain timelessness and ease of style.

What are your favorite pieces and how are you going to mix them into your wardrobe in surprising ways?
