The bold geometric print of Ivana Helsinki’s Knitted Sailor Coat is battle armor against the dull doldrums of spring. Designer, artist and filmmaker Paola Ivana Suhonen says she started her line as an art project, and now it’s a way of living.

“I could easily spend my life like a gypsy, being a vagabond, raising stories of love and life and going on my road trips,” she says, but has decided instead to make clothing for “drummer girls and girl women with beautiful souls.”
