There’s always a good reason for a trend to come along. We have to believe that.

Most of the time, it’s because it’s been too long coming. Other times you can bet on factors like politics, war or feminism to inspire designers.

When something like a full skirt comes along I have to sit back and ask…why?

Don’t most women struggle with their hips? Why must we add insult to injury and layer them with ruffles, pockets and fabric? Voluminous my big”¦toe.

Designers are taking it a step further by adding tulle underneath, hoping we yearn to skip through poppy fields a-fairying, and while this is heartening to some, women over a certain age are setting up chairs to sit this trend out.

I’m not 100% opposed, just 99.5.

If you search hard enough you might find a length that flatters, drawing one’s eye lower to your shapely legs but regardless, make sure you pair the flounce with the flat and smooth top so as not to appear frumpy.

Eco-friendly full skirts seem hard to find but I came across this bi-colored skirt made out of organic cotton by Amana, an eco-designer you should be watching.
