Thanks for the feedback–and really good point that being married or respecting women doesn’t mean someone can’t be a rapist.
While I don’t need my pop songs to be PSAs, I agree that this song sends a dangerous message and supports backwards ideas like grey areas, legitimate rape and victim-blaming.

There are enough politicians and people of authority acting carelessly. It’s a joke to police and the punishments, if any, are pathetic.

Also, lots of rapists have families, in fact, majority of rapists are nice-looking family men. Being married has nothing to do with respecting women. Lots of husbands rape their wives even. If these people couldn’t think of any other way to get their point across than to put out lyrics that can be easily confused to promote rape culture, than they shouldn’t be writing songs.

And majority of people listening are not gonna get into the irony. People are clueless enough about rape, way to fuel more ignorance about something as horrendous & prevalent as rape so you can have some creative expression while probably making a negative impact in society, the place where these “family-men” will have their kids growing up in.
