In my experience, people seem to hook up and break up at an accelerated rate – not because travel turns us all into wanton hedonists (although, you know, there’s a bit of that) but because travel is about opening yourself up, being less restrained, taking leaps to see where you might land. When you travel, your brain changes in all sorts of ways – and that’s where love originates (not that muscly pump in our chests).

Alas that it still hurts just as bad when it all goes wrong…
