It’s good that these stones are being constructed because it raises awareness and helps people to never forget what happened, so that nothing like that ever happens again.

I grew up in Germany during the 50s and 60s and our education about WWII was that they taught us the year the war started and the year the war ended.  I don’t remember anyone even mentioning that Germany had lost the war.  About the atrocities that were committed I only learned when I left in my late teens to live in another country.  
For the longest time I felt guilty by association, and not until I had taken the citizenship of my chosen country did I start feeling worthy.
I just hope that people will honor these stolpersteine by not stepping on them and once in a while stop to read a name or two to remember.
