I have to disagree about getting a paper calendar as a bad gift. As a kid I got one from my parents to help me plan for homework, practices, etc. which helped me become an organized adult (good thing. I work with deadlines for work.) Yes, I do most of my personal organizing electronically which is waste free but we still have a paper calendar hanging in our kitchen for appointments and activities that everyone in the family needs to know about. Granted it's a free one from a charity we give to and we recycle it either using the photos for art projects or the traditional way in the recycling bin the following year.

I would be the happiest person in the world if my kids would simply pick up after themselves during the holidays. They have too much and that is why it is so hard. How bout a holiday where we subtract rather than add?

Crazy list! Trying to keep it quiet here too Luanne when it comes to gift giving.
Just emailed my husband all I want is a new clothes basket and a fresh coat of non-toxic paint on our bedroom walls :)

Thanks, Anna. Yeah, my family decided to forgo the gifts several years ago, except for something for the kids (which they don't need, either). It is good to focus on the meaning of being together as a family or community. And let's not forget the FOOD!
