As a kid I got one from my parents to help me plan for homework, practices, etc. which helped me become an organized adult (good thing. I work with deadlines for work.) Yes, I do most of my personal organizing electronically which is waste free but we still have a paper calendar hanging in our kitchen for appointments and activities that everyone in the family needs to know about. Granted it’s a free one from a charity we give to and we recycle it either using the photos for art projects or the traditional way in the recycling bin the following year.

Yeah, my family decided to forgo the gifts several years ago, except for something for the kids (which they don’t need, either).
