take a small sturdy cardboard or wood box (or structured bag) to carry items that don’t sit well in regular bags, and exercise extra caution in where & how you’re walking since the surface underfoot may be wet/slippery/etc!

How about #11: Buying out of season produce or produce not actually produced locally. I see it all the time even here in Portland where the farmers markets are generally pretty strict compared to many parts of the country. But just the other day I saw people buying dessicated apples that had been in cold storage for over 8 months. And I often see people buying out of state fruit from vendors who otherwise sell stuff from their own farms or orchards, but sneak in a few crates of something popular from other farms.

Take small bills, not 20’s; they are very much appreciated by the vendors. Talk to the vendors, they are a wealth of information.

Tried out my local farmers’ market just a couple weeks ago, this is what I learned: show up 15-20 minutes *before* the stated opening time to get a chance for browsing without huge crowds (just don’t expect to buy anything until the vendors look ready to take transactions), take a small sturdy cardboard or wood box (or structured bag) to carry items that don’t sit well in regular bags, and exercise extra caution in where & how you’re walking since the surface underfoot may be wet/slippery/etc!
