I was *this close* to going to one of these last year, here in York. And now I’m kicking myself for not doing it.

It’s a terrific idea, and neatly gets around that initial awkwardness, that minefield of I-can’t-believe-I-said-thats (“er, hey, so – you’re a girl, then?”). If there’s no spark, you can just plant a tree and that’s that.

If not, then (speaking as a guy) you can show a bit more musclepower than is required by showing off, strain something horribly and end up being carted away to the nearest ER.

This always looks *great* to the opposite sex. And that’s why we all do it, every time. Yes.
