This piece so hits home. I am starting a knitting class in my living room this week and couldn't believe the response from my friends. More than half of the 20 women whom I emailed signed up. I forwarded this article to them to read as their first "assignment". Must be a lot of us out there with the need to "make."

I wholehearted nodded yes, yes, yes while reading this, totally making sense to me, article. Finally I have found some people who have a similar view and experience.
And for all the guys who are not involved in textiles, the same experiences apply to working in a motorcycle workshop according to Matthew Crawford in Shop Class as Soulcraft.

Have a great weekend and thanks again for a great article.

It is very rewarding to take a piece of yarn and a pair of knitting needles and go one stitch at a time and sooner or later you've made the back of a sweater. You keep going making more pieces of the puzzle. You sew the pieces together, slip it over your head and look in the mirror with amazement and delight. The yarn that was in the basket is a piece of your wardrobe. A great sense of accomplishment and pride comes over you and you realize that your time was a gift to yourself. Priceless.
