In California, local and state governments are supporting “greening” measures to help the environment and raise accountability. With going green comes lucrative spending contracts to update infrastructure. New construction creates new jobs. Gobama!!!!

Although I didn’t vote for Obama, I am extremely pleased with him thus far. In fact, I think he’s done a better job than my guy would’ve. His immediate action on openness of government and the environment are very encouraging.

That being said, I do worry that the world around is vesting too much in him. Hopes and aspirations are high, but they need to be grounded in the reality of what one president can accomplish.

The reaction here has been remarkable – with many European leaders (eg. UK’s Gordon Brown and France’s Sarkozy) making it clear that they consider Obama the right man for the job. There’s also a sense of breathing out. 🙂 I’d say that on the whole, Europe welcomes such an intelligent, articulate and impassioned new President.

Great follow up on the morning-after thrill, Mike! I think we can find Obama will also support more public transporation, the preservation of forrests and parks and perhaps improve on the existing Endangered Species Act. I’d also love to learn from you the reaction to his victory in Europe.
