Well put, Sara.

Living well is not effortless, but it is worth the investment we make. I believe we get what we give.

BRILLIANT! Thanks for this. I'm not alone in the bills as total drudgery department. I too find the chore of feeling good is related to simply having too much. Fewer bills might be a scream, as you put it so eloquently in this great post. Lightening our load is elating, hence the expression "less is more." I think this applies to both possessions and schedules. Having less for me means I can actually see and use what I have. And perhaps get to that yoga class. Speaking of ultimate chores, this week I'm digging out and organizing, putting my mad accumulation in order. It is so exhausting. Depression causes the pile up (I just don't feel like filing that stuff) and depression is lifted from finally reshuffling and eliminating. You keep digging out, too Sara. You and the cat will get to paradise soon.

Thank you for this Sara.

Some very well worded thoughts on things that we all should take a little more time to contemplate. It's so easy to fall into a trap of ease, where even indulgent things become chores. Being appreciative of what we have often comes second to complaining about all the things we have to do.

But, sometimes it is hard to get to that yoga class... :)

Lovely. :)

It's all about awareness. It's looking at bills and seeing them for what they are and what they *mean*. It's seeing things like a child, without the accreted adult cultural assumptions that have settled on us for years until we're caked heavy with them.

A thing that the popular imagination has really got twisted around....

Luxury requires effort.

It requires thought (forethought, afterthought, the works). It's a choice that demands spent energy. It's *not* the path of least resistance. It's something you somehow earn and therefore deserve - otherwise, it doesn't feel luxurious, it feels worthless. And when you've earned it, that's when you can truly luxuriate in it.
