Vanessa, thanks for this critical piece of writing. Too many people buy organic to protect their own health; insufficient light has been shed on the impact of the health of farmworkers and farm worker communities. Your work and Pesticide Action Network’s years of effort will I hope make more people aware of the need to support organic farming practices and the basic rights to a healthy workplace for farm workers.

I agree, someone I know who sells produce was claiming organic isn’t much better than the chemical stuff and this goes to show it’s hog wash. We have to take risks by changing our methods.

This is such an important issue! I love that EcoSalon publishes posts like this. I knew that pesticides were not good for farm workers but this really opened my eyes to the extent of the problem.
