This week’s look is inspired by tumblr: As 2013 wraps up, they’ve tallied the top tags of the year, and for fashion, #grunge was a big hit. Here’s a favorite look packed with grunge texture for a bit of 90s nostalgia.

NYC-based jewelry artist Pamela Love has been committed to sustainable and local production since the inception of her line in 2006. Today all her pieces are produced in NYC’s Garment District, from design to final product. This arrowhead ring is set in sterling silver and each piece is naturally unique.

A longtime fan of Allegra, I’m always on the lookout for sales involving her name. I stumbled across this one at Worthwhile recently.

This Three Rivers Dress is pretty cool the way the model wears it, but imagine a black or white silk slip underneath? Yum.

Torn about how you’ll participate in spring’s hottest trend?

You may find yourself embracing cutaway clothes and distressed duds sooner than you think – they’re everywhere this season, from designer denim to edgy hostess dresses.

Some designers really know how to create and manipulate this look while others, bound and determined to convince us we need rock star wardrobes (although they can be a fun niche part of your closet), hit the look far afield of the typical style maven’s ballpark when it comes to actually being able to wear it.

I’m going to give designer Raquel Allegra two thumbs up on her take on the trend.

Allegra’s L.A. County Jail t-shirts are inherently ready for the spring trend (a little bit of country and rock and roll) and thanks to a top secret distressing technique she uses, turns thin, white t-shirts into sheer dresses, flowing tunic tops and amazing accent scarves that bring just enough rock to the look so that we all have access.
