For those of you reading and asking, “Hey, what did I miss?” honey, you missed a lot!

This past Friday night, we hosted Ecosalon Shops! at a New York City venue in TriBeCa where nearly 20 designers, three eco-friendly boutiques (Foundfuture, Juno & Jove and Mission Savvy), and organic food and drink vendors (think chocolate! think martinis!) gathered to have a susty soiree. Thanks to a collaborative effort that included EcoSalon, sustainable designers, brands, editors, bloggers and friends, the place was packed and the fashion was flying.

But before that even happened, early arrivals, hoping to grab the product-packed goodie bags first, were swarming the space! After seating our eager guests in a lounge area, they waited patiently for the 7:00 whistle that kicked off the event. (Or make that the 7:00 beats, provided by none other than emcee Tofuburger. No, we’re not kidding.)

Over the course of three hours, some 400 fabulous eco gals (and a few green guys) showed to shop and mingle, including some of our favorite eco fashion writers (some of whom wrote pieces on the event as well): Jasmin Malik Chua of Ecouterre, Starre Vartan of Greenopia and Eco-Chick, Emma Grady of Treehugger, Abigail Doan of Ecco Eco and Eco Fashion World and spokeswoman, activist, writer and eco model, Summer Rayne Oakes of well, lots of green things! We were thrilled to spend time with these amazing people, some of whom we’ve been chatting with and working with online but had never met in person.

Readers who’ve been following us for the past two years also showed up and laughed over old and newer controversial stories that they’d either commented on or followed, got to meet all the designers we’ve been covering and made conscious purchases they could feel good about.

We’re deeply grateful to all the fantastic green supporters in media who helped spread the word about EcoSalon Shops! far and wide and attended the event, including Time Out New York, NBC’s Thread/NY as well as writers and editors from Lucky magazine, InStyle, the New York Times, Fox and Marie Claire.

I’m on day 14 of writing about all our designers for EcoSalon Shops! and I am no less inspired to write.

Today we feature RESTORE CLOTHING which is a label I cannot possibly say enough about. It will be way too much of a love fest for you to bear.

Designers Celeste and Anthony Lilore make up the label and have carved themselves a niche in the fashion industry to not only share their vision of social responsibility, but to produce what they consider “timeless, well constructed, essential garment collections.”

As New York City garment industry veterans, the duo designs some of the most comfortable yoga and lifestyle apparel on the market – from yoga pants, tanks and hoodies – all pieces fit like a charm.

The two are also heavily entrenched in the industry when it comes to sustainability – whether it’s New York City’s Garment District, organic farming, or empowering and connecting environmentally conscious businesses – they are very involved in the susty scene.

Did you know I had a thing for Swedish designers? For years this has been true.
Don’t think I’m stalking you, but I think the combination of this and the fact that you live in Brooklyn, a place I’ve really come to love, makes my heart soar. I even like the fact you spell your first name with a k.

I also like how your jewelry is sort of raw and yet stunning with all your recycled metals and stones being transformed from potential ugly ducklings into handcrafted, beautiful swans. I’m smitten.

And what’s this I hear you base your lines on “Fairytale narratives?” Taking your line the extra step into fantasy? Oh you.

I love you, I mean, what I mean is that I love your line and your ideas for inspiration and even though I’ve already tied the knot almost 14 years ago, I still think the idea of using recycled platinum for custom engagement rings and wedding bands sounds divine.

I would’ve done that had I known you.

I’ve loved what NatureVsfuture® designer Nina Valenti has been doing for awhile now, but how to accurately explain her collection isn’t easy to do since it’s so different than a lot of other lines.

That’s why when I went to the NatureVsfuture® site and saw her describing it as an “Artistic expression of organic futurism via clothing,” I was happy she could do it for me.

The label’s name was inspired by the designer’s belief that there is a “constant struggle between nature and future, a pressure between organic forces and technological ones. The more we advance the more we need to consider nature before we deplete it. In this tension to find balance is the living energy of the collection and hence the name.” says Valenti.

Her visions of balance lie somewhere in blending sculptural design with natural and sustainable fabrics like organic cotton, organic wool, hemp, soy, bamboo, seacell® (seaweed), lyocell (wood pulp), Ingeoâ„¢ (created from corn), along with recycled and technological fabrics such as Polartec® (made from soda pop bottles or industry waste).

And by her incredible talent in persuading us that futuristic is also very wearable, our futuristic visions of earth fashion are saved (we won’t be wearing recycled tin foil suits and cotton booties while walking through our galactic space vessels).

If you love beautiful clothing with a conscience and haven’t heard of Lara Miller, it’s time to brush-up on your eco fashion facts.

Chicago’s eco-darling and one of the sustainable design world’s pioneers, Lara is tireless in her pursuit to design, encourage, promote and re-create herself. And as executive director of Chicago Fashion Incubator, she mentors and supports up and coming designers.

Her own fresh designs are poster children for modular clothing, having the ability to be wrapped, reversed, and most distinguishably flipped to reveal an entirely different look – watch this video to see what I mean.

Manufactured in Chicago, Lara’s work is strongly influenced by the city’s architectural and cultural landscape while being fashioned from eco-friendly fibers such as organic cotton, hand-loomed bamboo, hemp and vegan silk. Lara says her designs are created with a playful geometry that connects to the personalities of the women who wear them.

Yesterday I wrote about the fun part of your closet with Feral Childe but forgot to mention another, more curious section you might want to consider: The dramatic.

When it comes to this niche, where you find yourself actually wanting to wear art and channel Film Noir, you should consider Swedish designer H Fredriksson to represent.

Actually inspired by Bergman films depicting the human condition, designer Helena Fredriksson combines her Scandinavian ethics with Brooklyn sass to create forward pieces of art you can actually wear. Think traditional Nordic crafting fused with American contemporary culture, and throw in a bit of signature H Fredriksson tailoring, and you have the end result. She also implements nature inspired prints pulled from her own photographs into the collection which I think, makes the line all that more personal and pretty and well, dramatic.

Not to mention when you wear her line you’ve got enough going on that you probably could step into some film noir.

When I came across her label years ago I was in love with the look book photography: pale models in tall grass clad in high-waisted, sweeping dresses with graphics of branches. Smitten.
