If you, like the rest of Netflix’s subscribers, are obsessed with the “Making a Murderer” docu-series but wonder what to watch next, continue reading for some spoiler-free suggestions.

Whether you think Steven Avery and his nephew, Brendan Dassey, are innocent or guilty, chances are you got sucked into the drama of “Making a Murderer” nonetheless. While the docu-series has its critics, it’s safe to say that since finishing it a lot of folks are looking for what to watch next. Here are our suggestions for what to watch next. The list features both docu-series and documentaries.

What to Watch After “Making a Murderer”

1. “The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst” (HBO)

Directed by Andrew Jarecki (“Felicity” and “Capturing the Friedmans”), this six-part documentary series shares the information gleaned from a seven-year investigation into a series of unsolved crimes and their connection to Robert Durst, the wealthy scion of New York’s Durst family. The most interesting aspect of this series is that it was made with his full cooperation, just like “Making a Murderer.”

2. “Central Park Five” (PBS)

If you came away from “Making a Murderer” with concerns about the problems in our justice system, you might want to watch this film. It’s by the award-winning filmmaker Ken Burns and tells the story of the five black and Latino teenagers who were wrongly convicted of raping a white woman in New York City’s Central Park in 1989. The film chronicles the case from the perspective of the five teenagers whose lives were changed forever by a miscarriage of justice.

3. “Kids for Cash”

By the same token, “Kids for Cash” is another film that highlights injustices in the criminal justice system. The film unpacks the notorious scandal of one Pennsylvania judge, who sent more than 3,000 kids to jail, and received millions of dollars in payments from the privately-owned juvenile detention centers where the kids were incarcerated.

4. “Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills” (HBO)

This film is the first in a trilogy that chronicles the story of the 1994 conviction of the ‘West Memphis Three’, a trio of teenagers accused of murdering three boys as part of a Satanic ritual in West Memphis, Arkansas. This film, like “Making a Murderer” takes a  critical look at the criminal justice system, especially when it comes to the juvenile justice system.  The subsequent films in the series are “Paradise Lost 2: Revelations” and “Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory.”

5. “The Prince of Pennsylvania” (ESPN)

If the appeal of “Making a Murderer” were the seemingly unstable cast of characters, then you might want to catch this film. It documents the murder of Olympic-wrestler Dave Schultz who was murdered by John DuPont. It also makes a nice companion to “Foxcatcher,” the film inspired by the murder that came out in 2014.

There’s nothing more code red than seeing ‘Written by Shonda Rhimes’ in the opening credits of a “Grey’s Anatomy” episode. Here’s how to prepare.

Between the chest cavity bomb, the Denny Duquette thing, the ferry boat disaster, the shooting, the plane crash, and the McNightmare that was last week’s episode, it goes without saying when you watch an episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” written by Shonda Rhimes, you should have a crash cart handy—because you know that by the time the hour’s over, she’ll have ripped your guts out of your ass.

And that is why you love her, even when you hate her. (See what I did there?) So when you see her name in the opening credits, here’s how to keep your dignity in tact. Well, some of it:

1. Turn off your phone

This should already be a #TGIT ritual, but some of us just don’t know any better.

2. Prepare stress food… I mean, snacks

Lots and lots of snacks.

3. Bust out two boxes of tissues

Because with Shonda Rhimes, you can never be too careful.

4. Say a little prayer

That you don’t go into cardiac arrest.

5. Hit play

And don’t forget to breathe.

6. Feel all the feelings

So. Many. Feelings.

7. Let it all hang out

Up until this point, you’ve done everything humanly possible to keep your shit together, but there comes a point in every Shonda Rhimes masterpiece where you explode into an ugly-crying, Xanax-needing, snot-bubbling pile of hormones.

8. Question your sanity

“I never feel this bad about real people WHY CAN’T I STOP CRYING?!”

8. Seek emotional support

Hit up the #GreysAnatomy hashtag on Twitter. Since you know, therapy is expensive.

9. Go into recovery mode

Now that you feel like a gutted fish, it’s time to turn off all the lights and sulk. And hate the universe. And make more snacks.

10. Live to fight another day

If Mer can do it, so can you.

11. Never listen to “Chasing Cars” again

Because duh.

If you don’t know what to watch tonight, you’re doing Thursdays all wrong.

Tonight’s the season finale of “How to Get Away With Murder,” the latest smash hit from ShondaLand, so you’d better have your crash cart handy. While we patiently wait for our night of wine and popcorn to get underway, let’s take a moment to reflect on what makes #TGIT so great—besides the OMG-worthy television shows:

1. The lineup is three hours long. Three hours.

Do you remember the last time you took three minutes to do something that didn’t involve responsibility? TGIT is a night just for you. It’s become one of those guilt-free indulgences you enjoy after a week of crushing it. I never thought I’d see the day when almost-Friday turns out to be way better than actual Friday, did you? (Personally, I think they should just give Shonda ABC.)

2. It’s not just a night of TV—it’s an event.

It’s not one of those situations where you don’t know what to watch, so you flick something random on and kick back—you block the time out for TGIT. You pick up wine on the way home from work. You turn the ringer off. You send hubby off with his friends. You probably have superstitious rituals you perform before turning on the TV, and you know exactly how much food to make to see you through the night. Speaking of which…

3. You basically have to eat popcorn for dinner.

Eating popcorn for dinner because you forgot to go shopping or you don’t feel like cooking isn’t just something you do in college—it’s something you also do as a grown-ass woman, only you don’t tell anybody because well, you’re a grown-ass woman. Thanks to TGIT we can make our beloved popcorn dinner with pride while the rest of the fam fends for themselves (kidding, sort of).

4. You get to hang out with Shonda and the cast.

Shonda and company are super-invested in keeping in touch with their fans, so every Thursday you’ll find cast members from “Grey’s,” “Scandal” and “How to Get Away With Murder” live-tweeting up a storm right along with you. You get to ask them questions, comment on their characters, and all the while they have no idea you’re doing so in a Snuggie.

5. ShondaLand just gets us.

When our favorite shows drop off the planet during the Christmas holidays and summer months, there’s a hole where our fall TV schedule used to be. Most of us get through this tough time by bingeing on reruns, Googling leaks about the upcoming season and IMDBing the shit out of the show’s actors, and we usually go it alone.

During the winter break, cast members from all three shows provided support for TGIT Withdrawal (which should become an actual medical diagnosis) through videos that included remedy ideas to help us survive. The vids also contained a hilarious(ly true) warning message just like a medical commercial: “While re-watching TGIT, call your doctor if you’re prone to outbursts of OMG, have uncontrollable tweeting or persistent symptoms like breathlessness, disbelief, heart palpitations, eyes popping out of your head, hot flashes, cold sweats, dizziness, or a good ol’ fashioned fainting spell.”

The genius TGIT Withdrawal campaign was legitimately helpful… and hopefully they have one in store during the summer when we have to go like, months without Mer, Liv and Annalise. I’m cold sweating already.
